5 Ways to Get Stronger

Here are 5 exercises for getting stronger.

  1. Squat. The King of all weight training exercises. For strength, do 3 sets of 10 reps (3×10).
  2. Deadlift. Great for building lower back, hip, and thigh strength. Do 3×6. For a variation, do them in a rack, with the bar set at knee-level. You can build massive strength this way, lifting a very heavy weight just a few inches.
  3. Bench press. The King of the upper body exercises. Do 3×6. Employ all the major muscle groups of the upper body by doing them with the arms at a 45-degree angle to the body.
  4. Bent-over rows. Great for building strength in the lats, erectors, shoulders, traps, and biceps.
  5. Dips. The single best exercise for developing bench press power. Do full reps. When you can do 3×10 with your own body weight, add a weight belt with additional weight and do 6 reps.
